GPS Coordinates to Zapata (Camp House and Boat Ramp)

For anyone who has GPS or Google earth here are the coordinates to the cabins we will be staying at (26 58 03N, 99 10 33W). And the 2^nd is for the coordinates to the boat ramp (26 43 52N, 99 06 47W).

March 2010 Spring Tounament at Falcon Lake

In March the club will be hosting a 2 day tournament in Zapata, TX at Falcon Lake. It will be held on the 13^th from safe light till 4:30pm and 14^th from safe light till 1:30pm at the Big Tigre boat ramp. Ken Anderson will have directions to boat ramp when we get down there.

Directions to Falcon Lake:

Falcon Lake is located on the Mexican border about a 5 hour drive from Bastrop. Please note that half of the lake is in Mexican waters and if you plan to fish the Mexican side you will need a special fishing license.

A friend on JR’s and Willie has a cabin we can stay at on Highway 16, about a mile towards Zapata, past State Park Road Arroyo Velleno intersection, approximately 6 – 8 miles from Zapata. It is a blue cabin visible from Highway 16 on the right hand side. JR will have the key for access. Accommodations are very basic so remember to bring your own bedding and supplies. There are also hotels in the area if you would prefer.

Reminder: Make sure if you are staying in the cabins it is very basic so remember to bring your own bedding and supplies. Don’t forget extension cords to charge batteries also for you boats. Hope to see everyone down in Zapata. Good luck

February 2010 Tournament

The February tournament was held on Lake Austin

On the 27^th. Jim Deiso and Chris Carpenter took 1^st place

with 6.21 lbs. Dan Starling and Carl Clardy took 2^nd with

5.27 lbs. Jim Deiso had big bass for the tournament with

a 2.79 lb black bass. Way to go Jim.

Talked about Spring Fling at Falcon Lake.

January 2010 Tournament

The January tournament was held on Lake Travis

on the 23^rd. It was a windy day and not a lot of fish were

caught. Leonard Philipp came in 1^st with 4.73lbs, Willie

and Bubba came in 2^nd with 1.71lbs and Richard and

Jimmy came in 3^rd with 1.24lbs. Hope to have better luck

In February tournament. February tournament will be held at

Lake Travis on the 27th at the 360 bridge boat ramp.

Tournament time will be from 7am to 3pm. Mike Harmon will be

tournament director. Good luck.

December 12, 2009 Tournament

The December tournament was held on the 12^th

at Lake Bastrop. We had a great turnout with 7 boats

participating in the event. Mike Harmon and Christian

Harmon took 1^st place with 14.96 lbs. Willie Spiller and

Bubba Balusek took 2^nd with 11.51 lbs and Morris Porter and

Jerry Williams took 3^rd with 6.14 lbs. Willie Spiller brought in

the big bass for the tournament with 6.80lb big bass.

Great tournament!!!!!!

Minutes of December 17th, 2009 Meeting

Meeting came to order @ 7:36pm by president.
No new members joined this month. Tony Salinas former member came to meeting. Welcome back.
Richard payed out all monies tied to November and December tournament.’
Club talked about ordering tee shirts for anyone interested. Club voted yes and will make order for shirts at the January meeting for any members and family.
January tournament will be hald at Lake Travis on the 23rd from 7am to 3pm at Tournament point ramp. Tourmanent directors will be Mike Harmon and Bubba Balusek.
Round table – Jackie spoke about the newsletters being torn up by the time he gets his. Club will start mailing newsletters in envelopes.
Fundraisers – club talked about having a jackpot tournament or a fish fry. Club voted for fish fry. More detailes to come in future meeting.
Drawing for door prize – Morris Porter won gift certificate for a entry fee to one of the up coming tournaments.
Meeting adjourned @ 8:21pm.
